Electors Demand Intel on Ongoing Investigations of Russian Interference in Election

There is clearly among those voting for Hillary a number of folks who simply cannot come to terms with Donald Trump’s victory.  This has taken a number of forms from demands for recounts in three states, to violent protests, to accusations of Russian involvement in the election, to attempts to get electors to derelict their responsibilities and join some sort of insurgency movement within the Electoral College.

Apparently, Americans are going to be expected to suffer through all of this at least until after the Electoral College vote next week, if not until Mr. Trump is inaugurated next month.

Ten Electoral College electors have asked U.S. intelligence officials for more information on ongoing investigations surrounding President-elect Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia.

The group of electors, which includes the daughter of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), wrote an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper asking for the information ahead of their Dec. 19 meeting to formally vote for the next president.

“The Electors require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations,” the letter read. “We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States.”

When it comes to hypocrisy, this has to be a new record, even for a Pelosi.  In fact, it’s so outrageous, one hardly knows where to begin.

First, we would point out that this entire Russian hacking issue, even at its worst so far, does not touch Donald Trump.  The best that can be come up with is the possibility that Russian interests might have hacked Democratic emails in order to damage the Clinton campaign.  There is no proof, no one has been charged, and there is evidence to indicate that this was no “hack” by anyone at all, but rather a “leak” by someone with access to the emails.

Then comes the utter hypocrisy.  Hillary Clinton has been, is now, and no doubt will be the subject of investigations into multiple felonies committed while secretary of state.  The head of the FBI basically admitted that she compromised classified material and acted in a profoundly irresponsible manner in safeguarding national secrets.  That he stopped short of recommending an indictment is more a testimony to the power of corrupt politics than it is to any innocence on the part of Mrs. Clinton.

Could we expect the younger Pelosi and her comrades to demand such information had Hillary won?

The tragedy here is that these people, in their zeal to attack the legitimate winner of the presidential election, will engage in most any activity to cast doubt on that election.  It’s so obvious that this might be one of the few transparent acts they have ever engaged in during their careers.
