A major decision that will impact Minnesotans’ privacy rights is waiting to be heard in the state’s court of Appeals.
It all started off simply enough. Jason and Jackie Wiebesick were a Golden Valley couple who lived in a duplex. One day, officials from the city approached them to ask permission to inspect their home. The stated reason was to collect information so as to make a decision over whether to renew the Wiebesick’s rental license.
Disturbed by the prospect of unfamiliar people walking around their home, the Wiebesick’s turned down the inspectors’ request. One might think it would have ended there, but the city saw to it that it didn’t.
Taking the case to court, Golden Valley authorities implored a county judge to issue a warrant overriding the Wiebesick’s objections and allowing them into the house. Tellingly, the judge refused their request for a warrant, prompting the city to reach even higher.

Has this$#%&!@*of a muslim loving governor NEVER heard of the 4th ammendment to our Constitution?
Maybe when they come to inspect, they never leave…… until the pigs need to be fed.
With all the ragheads in Minnesota maybe one of them did not like them?
I’m all about the sanctity of a home…but it seems they are renting all or part of their home. So it seems they should have to give access to that property for inspection to ensure safety of the rental and to ensure all rental codes are being followed.
Again, I’m all about privacy and all about proper warrants with reasonable suspicion needing to be met to get a warrant .. but on this case, because they are renting part of the residence, I’m not sure they can deny access for inspection purposes to confirm code compliance.
Does sound like there is an underlying issue to this situation but if they are renting…..I think they need to allow inspection…just like a restaurant or any other business. Just my opinion. But not knowing all of the back story, I’m sure we all may have different opinions.
Apparently they rent their home to other people. Their city requires them to have a rental license, part of getting that license is having your home inspected to make sure it is fit to be a rental. If you rent yo section 8 or HAD people they insect your home or oartments also. They are not telling the whole story here
Violation of privacy. Your home is your castle no one enters with permission or a warrant.
Agenda 21!
Yes, this is the law; if you are a landlord you must (for your own protection as well) obey the rules – if you own and live in your house you don’t have to comply (unless the house it’s a multi dwells property).
Not right
It happened on Obama’s watch.
