The beautiful thing about America is that though its people have myriad differences between themselves and their neighbors, there is room for everybody to live the way they want to. So long as no one is hurt, citizens are free to operate and interact with others as they please. And of course, a big part of living is having a home to one’s liking.
Unfortunately, we have gone from the idea that a person’s home is their castle to the notion that one’s home is just another place for the government to stick its nose into. So not only are the possessions we keep in our houses subjected to their rule, but the very buildings we call home are as well.

Jeff Stevens…here’s the thing though…
You mentioned the homeless people being treated “like animals” by giving them such a small shelter.
But when you have lived on the streets and seen the looks they get, the words they have to hear, the general treatment the get, you realize that the homeless are the people who are happy with even something as small as that “glorified shed” that the fella built for them. I didn’t see one single homeless person in the video who wasn’t happy to have even the small bit of security and sense of “home” that that young man was providing for them.
Yes…the homeless, ESPECIALLY homeless veterans or families with children, should be treated much better than they are. But for a single person who lives on the streets, even a glorified she’d that actually has a physical address gives them a MUCH better chance of stepping up in the world than living in a tent on a sidewalk. With an actual address, which a tent does not provide, the person can go out and look for a job. If/when the get one, they can then move into an apartment of some sort. Then another homeless person could use that shelter.
Yay
Really, you would not even allow them to retrieve their medication? What par if hell did you wake up in?
This is nuts. At least it got them inside
California only cares about how it looks not how it feels!
I don’t understand these people & their actions.
Another case of the little guy getting srcewd by city government, you only rent your land and home , and you pay for everything no landlord to call when something breaks
This is beyond wrong! Disgusting behavior LA! I THOUGHT you were such liberal, progressive, tolerant city…? Is this the face of true progressiveness? This was such a blessing to those who had previously been homeless, a safe and peaceful oasis. Typical liberal behavior…. ALL TALK AND NO ACTION!
