Major Earthquake Activity Could Hit West Coast

A series of earthquakes that struck Asia, two of which registered magnitudes over 6.0, threatens to soon spread to the West Pacific, placing California, Oregon and Washington at risk. The two 6.0+ earthquakes occurred back to back in Indonesia and on the heels of smaller ones in the nation’s southern region as well as the Philippines. Equally worrying is the sudden incidence of earthquakes of similar magnitude in Chile and Colombia, further suggesting that the entire Pacific region is at risk. Even Brazil, which doesn’t possess coastlines on the Pacific and very rarely experiences major seismic activity, has been blighted by one such earthquake recently.
