Waters: When We Finish With Trump, We Have To Go And Get Putin, er, Pence

For Americans who don’t share Ms. Waters political views, she reminds some of the Aunt Esther character on the old Redd Foxx “Sanford and Son” show. Feisty, argumentative and quite nutty.

Asked is she might run for president, Waters said, “I’m not running for anything but the impeachment of Donald Trump.”

The question was prompted by her recent visit to New Hampshire to speak to Granite State democrats at a fundraiser. There she made her objective clear.

Mr. President, we are organizing. And we are organizing to bring you down. And bring your agenda down.”

Picking up on language used by presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during her failed 216 run, Waters called President Trump the most “deplorable” person she’s ever met.

During the interview the topic of information leaks cropped up, and the congresswomen showed her enthusiasm for the leaks. Co-host Paula Fairs asked if Waters was troubled by the leaks of calls to foreign leaders and the possible damage they might cause.

No, not at all. I am so glad they’re telling us what’s going on.”

She then added that the leaks are evidence that people want Trump deposed.

They’re undermining him because they want to see him stopped. They want us to do something. Not every president would be treated this way. This man has no values. He lies. They know it. And he’s the danger. And they want us to do something about it.”

That’s when she ventured down the road toward sedition. Obviously, if Trump were impeached, Vice President Mike Pence would assume the presidency. That’s when Joy Behar asked Waters if Pence would be a better president.

“No, and when we finish with Trump, we have to go and get Putin. He’s next.”

Putin? Seeing Behar’s puzzle reaction and realizing her embarrassing stumble, Waters then corrected herself, saying “Pence.”

The Putin slip-up simply reveals the Democrat preoccupation with the specious Russian collusion story.

Sure, the audience was no doubt amused. But consider this: a member of the House of Representatives is advocating possible sedition to oust a president and vice president when there are no grounds to impeach either one.

The dictionary defines sedition this way: incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority.

As Democrats proudly talk about being members of The Resistance, do they understand what they’re really saying?

Sedition is a crime. Title 18 of the U.S. Code covers seditious conspiracy. Here’s how it reads:

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”

Clearly, positioning your political party as The Resistance, and arguing for impeachment of the president and vice president without any specific reasons stated, other than personal dislike, runs right up against the border of seditious conspiracy. It’s simply wrong to overthrow the government through impeachment because you’re not happy with the results of the prior election.

Mad Maxine may be a darling in the media for her wacky ways and entertaining style. But her conduct and remarks at times aren’t the least bit funny. They’re dangerous because they might incite unstable individuals to undertake awful actions. Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana certainly knows about that.
