A writer at the Washington Post has a proposition to heal the racial divide: give blacks reparations in the form of having their vote count more than whites.
Theodore R. Johnson, current Ph.D candidate in law and policy at Northeastern University, believes the racial divide will not resolve until some form reparations are made.

Well, since the bulk of the African continent countries still allow slavery, I’d have to say black Americans have it better here, than black Africans have it there.

I’m in no way condoning American slavery… it shouldn’t have happened, but it did.
Are most black Americans better off here, today, than if they’d stayed in their ancestral homeland?
Slavery in Africa aside… the continent is a mess, with tribal battling tearing many countries apart… which explains their desire to come to the US.
But reparations?

My ancestors, as best as I can tell, weren’t slave owners.
Since, at the height of slavery in the US, only 1.4% of the white US population were slave owners, who’s going to trace them down, send them a bill, and collect?
As far as my family tree… if someone’s going to pass out a check for pain and suffering caused to their ancestors, I know of at least two of mine died fighting for the north.
Washington Post continues to show their ignorance.
