Vicente Fox of Mexico Picks Fight with Trump, Threatens War

Vicente Fox is a former president of Mexico. Like many politicians, he insists on keeping himself in the political spotlight. In so doing, he injects himself into controversy. Of course, making audacious comments is one way to attract attention to yourself, and Mr. Fox is doing a fine job at that.

He clearly has issues with Donald Trump. In fact he’s had issues with him ever since Mr. Trump announced that, if elected, he would build a wall along the border with Mexico at Mexico’s expense. In fact, he took to Twitter to express his opinion of that.

We’ll excuse Mr. Fox’s poor spelling or typo. We still get the message. The problem for Fox is apparently he does not the message. As things have evolved, it’s beginning to look like Mexico is going to pay for the wall, and Mr. Trump is not even president yet.

Fox continues his war of words on Mr. Trump by questioning the legitimacy of his victory.

But the most ridiculous remark coming from Fox has been his threat to go to war with the US.

“Trump is attacking us, offending all of us and that could take us to war!”

Not a trade war, mind you, but the real thing with bullets and soldiers and artillery pieces and all the rest. It’s a lunatic notion. Perhaps Mr. Fox has become unhinged. Or maybe he’s forgotten that he’s no longer president.

Whatever the case, it might be a good idea for the current Mexican president to ask him to quit causing problems and making a fool out of himself.
