Veterans are being arrested by Secret Service for making anti-Obama Facebook posts, sometimes the very next day after creating a post – a practice which has been going on for quite some time.
All the while, our police force is being militarized at an alarming rate, with veterans being cited as one reason why. This is revealed in a statement made last month by Sgt. Dan Downing of the Morgan County, Ind. Sheriff’s Department, he stated “The weaponry is totally different now that it was in the beginning of my career, plus, you have a lot of people who are coming out of the military that have the ability and knowledge to build IEDs and to defeat law enforcement techniques.”

want to guess what the VET in my name stands for? Angela- while I feel your hatred for the military is misplaced (versus a hatred for having to have a military which I can understand at least)- it is ignorant to be so closed minded as your comment allows us to believe of you.
I have spent nearly half my life in the military not only in combat but also in peace time. I was in aghanistan 3 weeks after 9/11- and was an active army recon scout. I joined the national guard and have seen many state side activations- what did we do here in America? we weren’t bombing, we weren’t shooting– we were doing humanitarian missions. After Hurricane Katrina, it was the Guard helping our fellow citizens. In New England there have been tornadoes, snow storms and the Boston Marathon Bombing- I have personally taken part in the last two.
Bottom line, you like the freedom to say what you feel, and be free of persecution of your beliefs- that’s what being an american is all about. The military stands to defend your right, every moment of every day.
Want us to stop what we do? be prepared…it may mean an end of the freedoms you so love and cherish…
