Socialism always starts as a “people’s movement,” with mindless and ignorant people being directed by elitist con men in the background, telling the foolish that by bringing down the “rich,” everyone will share in the abundance that socialism will bring. It is always a lie, and invariably almost all the people end up in poverty, with the exception of the top socialist leaders who live like kings. Fidel Castro is certainly one who has lived that life, and his protege, Hugo Chavez destroyed the Venezuelan economy pursuing the same socialist policies.
When the economy comes crashing down, it is necessary for the leadership to blame an outside source, and when Chavez was alive, he continually named the United States for all of the woes the country was suffering from. In fact, the oil rich country provides 9 percent of the U.S. gross oil imports, which must be a considerable sum of export income to the nation of 30 million people. As such, the U.S. provided a huge portion of the countries income, but Chavez resented that as well.
Venezuela has expropriated foreign and domestic businesses, which means that the people have little invested in the country and are becoming very unhappy with the leadership as it nosedives to complete economic ruin.
For more on the Venezuelan “people’s paradise,” see page 2:

Other countries didn’t make them solely dependent on hydro electric power with no fossil fuel backup. That was the socialists decision. Now they are in drought. Other countries didn’t make them nationalize theirnoil industry. That was the socialists. Other countries didn’t force the socialist government to pilfer a trillion dollars of the oil money and they NEVER hedged the price of oil. That was central economic planning (think deep plowing by Mao). Other countries didn’t force the socialist government to take farms from people to give to political supporters who did not know how to farm. And when shortages started other nation a didn’t force them to implement price control that killed the few productive farms remaining. In fact, I think you haven’t looked into this at all
I guess it’s not Venezuela’s fault for having only one export. Oil. They made all that money from their oil sales and Venezuela’s corrupt government didn’t put one dime back into the country. I don’t call that democratic socialism. I call that the greedy no good corrupt political self serving to hell with the people I need a new mansion government.
Do you know that America is in debt to a communist country. We borrowed money from a communist country. So who system is really better ours or there’s can you say ours because we have to borrow money from a system that we say is wrong
A very pretty strawman, but China’s “Communist” credentials are questionable at best; certainly they don’t practice in the manner that Marx, Lenin, or Mao would have envisioned. While it is seldom discussed, China itself is in some pretty steep debt. But the US isn’t on the verge of collapse, Venezuela is.
Well said.
Socialism is the first step toward fascism.
Why would we invade that dump?
Who is asking you to give up your guns?
If there is no food power or water for the people then what are the military using. And why tell the people the u.s. is going to attack. Makes no sense at all
Inb4 people try to turn this on Bernie Sanders.
If you are a Trump supporter it invalidates everything you say.
