Fidel Castro died this week, much to the pleasure of thousands of Cuban Americans who fled the communist dictator’s rule. But not everyone in the United States is happy that the man who impoverished Cuba has passed away. Many on the left have begun mourning the totalitarian leader in the days following his death.
Those with personal connections to Cuba tend to see Castro for who he was, a brutal tyrant. Marco Rubio, whose family fled Cuba before he was born, called Castro “an evil, murderous dictator who inflicted misery and suffering on his own people.”
It’s an apt description for the man who denied his people freedoms of speech, press, and assembly. Those who did have the nerve to stand up to Castro found themselves either imprisoned or executed.
But none of that seems to matter to the left. They’re still grieving the loss of a man many of them consider to be a transformative leader.

My husband came from Cuba to escape the horrors of the Castro communist regime. His family’s ranch, houses, money everything but the clothes on their back were confiscated. The only people who have lives are the military and the upper echelon of the Castro regime. The populace live by black market supplies paid for by American dollars. Castro has killed thousands of Cubans who wanted freedom. So please don’t worship this blight on the human race and make him some sort of a martyr. The military has a tight grip on the island along with Raul. They run everything. The so called education is a farce, medicine a farce, the hospitals are filthy. Communism doesn’t work and They are idiots. THey have suffered nothing and know nothing on how the Cuban people have suffered. A knock on the door in the middle of the night if you oppose Castro’s rule means certain death not even your body will be found. Castro a gentleman? He is the epitome of evil.
No we don’t. Speak for yourself next time or just not speak of mourning a dictator again…that would work too
