Fidel Castro died this week, much to the pleasure of thousands of Cuban Americans who fled the communist dictator’s rule. But not everyone in the United States is happy that the man who impoverished Cuba has passed away. Many on the left have begun mourning the totalitarian leader in the days following his death.
Those with personal connections to Cuba tend to see Castro for who he was, a brutal tyrant. Marco Rubio, whose family fled Cuba before he was born, called Castro “an evil, murderous dictator who inflicted misery and suffering on his own people.”
It’s an apt description for the man who denied his people freedoms of speech, press, and assembly. Those who did have the nerve to stand up to Castro found themselves either imprisoned or executed.
But none of that seems to matter to the left. They’re still grieving the loss of a man many of them consider to be a transformative leader.

It’s not just a leftist sentiment from an Oakland woman; it’s an anti-american sentiment, and it doesn’t matter whether there is a Republican or Democrat President in the WH, predominantly Republican or Democratic Congress, the sentiment is still anti-american and it won’t change, no matter who is in power. And that’s a shame. She is a member of the United States House of Representatives. As such, she represents the United States (although a small portion of it). She shouldn’t be mourning the loss of a brutal communist dictator who was an enemy of the USA. Communism, in every form manifested from 1917 to now, is a sham. It promises a better life for workers, but very quickly delivers a life even worse than they had before. It’s a real pity so many supposedly educated people still don’t realize that. I suppose it’s because they don’t pay the price for embracing it – the poor do though, and the moment they complain or protest they are locked up or shot.
