Students at the University of California in Irvine voted this week to ban the American flag to make the campus more “culturally inclusive.”
“The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” stated Matthew Guevara, UC’s Social Ecology Representative, who authored the resolution. “Flags not only serve as symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism, but also construct cultural mythologies and narratives that in turn charge nationalistic sentiments.”

i’m pretty sure University of CA receives federal funding and as such can’t refuse to fly the US flag. otherwise, it has to be totally private and receive NO federal or state funding. these students are in the wrong and should be challenged on this
They are so off base. The American Flag represents the freedom for all people who live here in the US. Are they going to demand all flags at the UN be taken down since the all represent the same thing to other nations? They need to get a grip on reality.

These little ungrateful bastards want to hate on America while living here and reaping the benefits of this country, what a disgrace. You wouldn’t have a college to go to if we hadn’t fought in the wars we’ve been in or even the opportunity to choose your own career and the path of your future. If I was the parent of one of these students I would stop paying their tuition. There should be no public buildings or entities in this country that don’t fly the flag. Don’t like this country or what it stands for? Then LEAVE!
The Flag is the flag of the United States of America. Every country has its flag but now OUR AMERICAN Flag is offensive to all of these people from Other countries? Then why don’t they all go back where they came from so they never have to see it again? Oh No wait they want all the freedoms our country has to offer but pick and choose what they want or dont want.Now I know they want all the “Freebies” our country gives them but then they want to disrespect our Flag.Go to hell all you “Illegals” and “Communists”, and leave my country and Flag alone.
