U.S. and Russia Continue to Clash in the Skies Over Syria

Ever since these incidents first started happening, there have been talks of conversations taking place between the U.S. and Russia, some reports even claiming that Russia wants to join forces with the U.S. to defeat ISIS. However, due to certain decisions made by the Obama Administration, this type of cooperation is looking quite impossible.

A video conference is planned between U.S. and Russian officials to work out how to avoid conflict as Russian warplanes conduct airstrikes against forces opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, even as U.S. and allied aircraft conduct strikes against pro-Syrian government forces.

Carter has also branded Russia’s approach “strategically short-sighted.”

“Even as we continue to disagree on Syria policy, we should be able to at least agree on making sure our airmen are as safe as possible,” he added, according to the International Business Times.

The United States and Russia are basically using two foreign forces as pawns in a never-ending fight for dominance over the Middle East. By discussing the safety of their airmen, it’s like they’re trying to turn it into some kind of gentlemen’s game. The Obama Administration created the mess that is ISIS, and by funding forces opposed to President Bashar al-Assad, they could be well on their way to creating another terrorist organization. Perhaps it’s time President Obama mended his relationship with Putin for the greater good.
