Does this governor-elect have any teeth in his words or is it all political tongue wagging?
In an interview, Gov.-elect Greg Abbott, the current attorney general, said Texas Obama’s frequent vows to invoke questionable executive power to change immigration law have forced Texans to prepare for yet another “surge” of illegals crossing from the south.
Texas has shouldered considerable expense dealing with the problem of illegal immigration that’s being worsened by the White House, Abbott said, and one horn of any lawsuit would be getting the federal government to pay for problems it’s causing.
But he said the larger point is that immigration laws are made by the country from Capitol Hill, not the White House.
“We’re expecting the White House will not cross the line,” he said. “If the president crosses the line, he’s going to see an overwhelming rejection of what he’s trying to do.”
I’m going to take a wait-and-see position on this one. I hope he has the backbone to back up his words.
Sue??? are you stupid or part of the plan??? He would be gone by the time a lawsuit would make it to court! He needs to be extricated from the office as well as all his cohorts!
Cheri got nothin but, to play the same old tired race card, we get enuff of that from this administration.
Sue??? In a liberal justice system? Are you insane??? Might want to read the constitution and find out WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!!!!
absolutely. for shame!
Where were you people when Reagan and Bush 41 took executive action on this issue? Nowhere to be found, that’s where.
I don’t remember any lawsuits when Reagan did the same thing years ago. Neither did Bush 41. Where was the GOP screaming then?
And if the GOP doesn’t like what’s happening, they have the perfect opportunity to pass a reform bill. I don’t see that happening.
Besides, filing suit on a president is a waste of time. They just laugh at it.
Reagan and Bush gave amnesty to about 1.3 million people who had been here for years. They were the spouses and single parents who had jobs and were trying to solidify their families after years of not being able to get citizenship. The amnesty was voted on and approved by House and Senate. The 11 million illegal aliens that Obama wants to grant amnesty to have only been here a few months, have almost no jobs and are living on welfare or government programs. There are single parents, children, rapists, gang members, criminals, murderers, and other types of felons. I suggest that if this is OK with you, that you ask to board a few of these lovely citizens in your home.
