In a fitting topic for the income tax filing deadline, Tucker Carlson roasted a California politics professor on Tucker Carlson Tonight last evening for claiming wealthy Americans are not paying their “fair share” in income taxes.
Caroline Heldman, an assistant professor of politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, argued for radically hiking taxes on taxpayers in the top one percent of income, those earning $470,000 and higher.
She based her argument in part on the fact that wealthy individuals paid as much as 90 percent in taxes during the presidencies of Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy.
Find out how Carlson countered her argument and revealed her for the socialist ideologue she is on the next page.
I’ll take “Laffer Curve” for a thousand, Alex…
Libiots are economic illiterates!
We should start by cutting all funding to foreign aid, starting with countries that hate us anyway.
Maybe stop bombing and installing puppet regimes in those countries and they’ll won’t hate us.
The woman’s argument does not stand up. “The wealthy paid as much as 90% in taxes during Kennedy / Johnson years”. Up to 90%, so some if not many of the same wealthy she is speaking of paid less than 90%. Maybe 80% or 70% she doesn’t define that. Did they pay those % on earned income, rental income, investment income? Was it adjusted income or gross income? Neither did she define what the wealthy should pay, except more. I can’t remember anyone advocating higher taxes on the wealthy ever state what that % is. And the funny thing, all those advocating taxing the wealthy are in the 1% if $450,000 is the cutoff. Yet they keep amassing more money. What how that works?
If you are going to take positions on a subject at least have the factual data to support your statements.
A side note:
When Romney ran against Obama he released his tax returns and the left / Democrats took him to task for the low tax payments % wise. These same people never even recognized that in the years being reviewed Romney had made about $40,000,000 (if I remember correctly) in charitable donations. On the flip side Obama / Biden did not make tax payments on the same % nor did they contribute near as much to charity.
And just think, students are paying thousands of dollars in tuition and fees taking courses like these
Borrowing money to be indoctrinated, indebted and angry.
Flat tax. Each party includes a proposed tax on their party platform. Which ever party get a majority in the House (where spending bills originate), that’s the rate taxpayers pay during that administration.
They never do it… they squak about it it but never want their BS to touch them!!!
