Trunmp’s Immigrant Ban Includes Green Card Holders

Although immigration is already a hot topic in American politics, it just got turned up a notch as President Trump continued to make good on his campaign promises to get control of America’s borders and deal with those who were allowed to enter the country illegally under the Obama regime. His latest move, while sure to enrage liberals, is just one more step in implementing his plans regarding immigration.

President Trump’s executive order banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. also applies to green card holders from those countries, the Department of Homeland Security said Saturday.

“It will bar green card holders,” acting DHS spokeswoman Gillian Christensen told Reuters.

Green cards serve as proof of an individual’s permanent legal residence in the U.S.

A senior administration official clarified on Saturday afternoon that green card holders from the seven countries affected in the order who are currently outside the U.S. will need a case-by-case waiver to return to the U.S.

Green card holders in the U.S. will have to meet with a consular officer before departing the country, the official said.

That’s one component of his strategy. Another part deals with immigrants from Syria, a nation filled with terrorists.

Trump signed an executive action Friday halting the country’s Syrian refugee resettlement program and halting all refugee resettlement for 120 days as well as imposing a 90-day ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Mr. Trump also cited the persecution that Christians in particular were experiencing at the hands of murderous jihadists in these countries, and will offer them preference in being admitted to the US as partial compensation for their sufferings.

In all, Mr. Trump’s comprehensive immigration overhaul is an aggressive plan to make it much more difficult for terrorists to enter the US and carry out their plans. And that benefits everyone, including the liberals who so vigorously oppose Mr. Trump on this matter.
