Trump Travel Ban Mandates Reporting on Migrant ‘Honor Killings’

This week, Donald Trump announced plans for a second travel ban after his first was struck down in court.

While the first travel ban was never officially ruled unconstitutional, the temporary nature of the executive order made the lengthy appeal process a useless endeavor. According to the court of appeals that ruled on the case, the Trump administration’s failure to provide significance evidence necessitating the ban may have been the deciding factor.

In this week’s new travel ban, Trump made sure to include specific instances of migrant violence here in the United States; and the administration is promising to report more in the future. Part of the new executive order mandates that the government report on “honor killings” committed by migrants — like the one that occurred just recently in Germany.
