Trump Preps to Take On Mueller’s All-Star Roster of Liberal Activists

When Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as Special Counsel, the DC establishment and mainstream media all applauded his selection. That’s when the alarm bells should have been going off.

A former FBI director, Mueller happens to be best friends with recently-fired FBI director James Comey, who’s animus toward President Trump is widely known.

The lawyers joining the Mueller team are a veritable who’s who of liberal activists in the legal realm. Upon examination, it’s clear these are folks who will be working to find a crime where none exists.

There is no evidence of collusion and even if collusion occurred it would not be a crime — just like the fact that Hillary Clinton colluded with the Ukraine was not a crime. But the Russian witch hunt will never end until heads roll.”

Here is a look at the 15 attorneys who will investigate Trump.

NPR recently listed 13 of the attorneys Mueller has hired:

    • Rush Atkinson, an attorney on detail from the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section at the Department of Justice
      — Donated $200 to Clinton in 2016
    • Peter Carr – DOJ spokesman under Barack Obama.
    • Andrew Goldstein, a public corruption prosecutor on detail from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York
Worked under Trump-basher Preet Bharara in the liberal New York southern district.
    • Adam Jed, an appellate attorney on detail from DOJ’s Civil Division.
      —  Defended Obamacare at the DOJ.
    • Rober Mueller – Special Counsel Team leader.

— Best friend to fired leaker James Comey.

  • Lisa Page, an attorney on detail from the FBI’s Office of the General Counsel and a former trial attorney with the Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Gang Section
    —  Investigated Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash, a one-time business partner of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, at the DOJ.
  • Elizabeth Prelogar, an appellate attorney on detail from the Office of the Solicitor General.
–Fluent in Russian; former law clerk to Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan.
  • James Quarles, a former partner at WilmerHale and a former assistant special prosecutor for the Watergate Special Prosecution Force.
–Former assistant special prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force.
  • Jeannie Rhee, a former partner at WilmerHale who has served in the Office of Legal Counsel at DOJ and as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.
    — Rhee is a Clinton Foundation Lawyer and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel under Barack Obama.
  • Brandon Van Grack, an attorney on detail from the Justice Department’s National Security Division.
    — Led a grand jury inquiry in Northern Virginia scrutinizing former Trump associate Michael Flynn’s foreign lobbying.
  • Andrew Weissmann, who is on detail from the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and who has served as general counsel at the FBI and as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
    — Weissmann donated $2,300 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2008, $2,000 to the DNC in 2006 and at least $2,300 to the Clinton campaign in 2007.
  • Aaron Zebley, a former partner at WilmerHale who has previously served with Mueller at the FBI and has served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia.
    — Worked with Robert Mueller at the WilmerHale firm.

These other Mueller attorneys have less conspicuous political leanings:

  • Aaron Zelinsky, an attorney on detail from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Maryland.
    — Worked under Assistant AG Rod Rosenstein in Maryland.
  • Zainab Ahmad, a top national security prosecutor on detail from U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York.
  • Michael Dreeben, an appellate attorney on detail from the Office of the Solicitor General, described by former colleagues as one of the brightest criminal law experts of the past two generations.

Younger readers might not realize that Mueller is following the same playbook used against President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. Already a steady stream of leaks is working its way into the anti-Trump media.

One of Mueller’s first appointments to his team was James Quarles, a former assistant special prosecutor for the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. Quarles worked with Mueller in private practice at WilmerHale.

Another former WilmerHale colleague is Jeannie Rhee, who once served in the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice (DOJ) as Deputy Attorney General for Barack Obama. She most recently has served as a lawyer for The Clinton Foundation. (No conflict there.)

Other DOJ alumni from the Obama Administration include: Peter Carr, a DOJ spokesman; Rush Atkinson of the DOJ Criminal Division’s Fraud Section; and Adam Jed, an appellate attorney from the DOJ Civil Division who defended Obamacare in court.

Two more of the team already have taken part in investigations related to members of the Trump team.

Lisa Page, an attorney currently on detail from the FBI’s Office of the General Counsel (no doubt a Comey crony), previously worked in the DOJ Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Gang Section.

While there, Page “investigated Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash, a one-time business partner of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.”

Brandon Van Grack, an attorney on detail from the DOJ National Security Division, “led a grand jury inquiry in Northern Virginia scrutinizing former Trump associate Michael Flynn’s foreign lobbying.”

An attorney from the DOJ Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, Andrew Weissmann, has been a consistent donor to Democrat political campaigns, contributing more than $7,000 to Obama, DNC and Hillary Clinton efforts.

Two of the Mueller team have a previous connection to the Office of the Solicitor General. Michael Dreeben is an appellate attorney considered one of the top experts on criminal law. Elizabeth Prelogar is an appellate attorney fluent in Russian who is a former law clerk to Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan.

The remaining team members all have experience gained working in U.S. Attorney’s offices in different parts of the country.

Zainab Ahmad is a national security prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York.

From the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York comes Andrew Goldstein, a public corruption prosecutor. There he worked for Preet Bharara, a noted liberal and virulent critic of President Trump.

Aaron Zebley, assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, previously worked for Mueller at the FBI and was his colleague at WilmerHale.

Finally rounding out the team is Aaron Zelinsky form the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Maryland. He formerly worked for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in Maryland.

Of course, the President is well aware that the team being assembled against him is made of up of liberals. According to the New York Times, he is already putting together a dossier on them all. Perhaps this is an indication on how he will fight against this witch hunt:

resident Trump’s lawyers and aides are scouring the professional and political backgrounds of investigators hired by the special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, looking for conflicts of interest they could use to discredit the investigation — or even build a case to fire Mr. Mueller or get some members of his team recused, according to three people with knowledge of the research effort.

The search for potential conflicts is wide-ranging. It includes scrutinizing donations to Democratic candidates, investigators’ past clients and Mr. Mueller’s relationship with James B. Comey, whose firing as F.B.I. director is part of the special counsel’s investigation.

The effort to investigate the investigators is another sign of a looming showdown between Mr. Trump and Mr. Mueller, who has assembled a team of high-powered prosecutors and agents to examine whether any of Mr. Trump’s advisers aided Russia’s campaign to disrupt last year’s presidential election.

Folks, there you have an all-star team of liberals who we’re supposed to believe will render a fair and impartial investigation of the Trump team.

Lord knows what this judicial sham is costing American taxpayers. Robert Mueller is not more capable of running a fair investigation with this crew than I’m capable of setting a new world’s record in the 100-yard dash.
