Trump Orders Obama’s Overseas Ambassadors to Vacate by Inauguration Day

Donald Trump isn’t wasting time shaking up the political establishment. This week, he sent eviction notices to Obama’s team of international ambassadors.

Donald Trump’s team is ordering politically appointed ambassadors to leave their overseas posts by Inauguration Day, The New York Times reports.

The mandate could leave the U.S. without Senate-confirmed representatives for months in countries like Germany and Britain, the Times notes.

The order breaks with precedent. In the past, administrations have granted extensions on a case-by-case basis.

A senior Trump transition official told the Times there was no “ill will” in the order and that it is meant to make sure President Obama’s appointees leave the government on schedule.

Trump appears to be taking his pledge to drain the swamp very seriously. He isn’t targeting just the visible posts in Washington, D.C. He’s taking aim at posts around the world, showing he wants actual change, not just a change in image.
