Trump Haters Pervert Shakespeare Play to Stage Trump Murder

The Public Theater’s website describes the play this way: “Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary.” It notes the Roman leader is “bent on absolute power” and that a “small band of patriots, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, must decide how to oppose him.”

Apparently, the theater company thinks assassinating Donald Trump would show devotion to our democratic traditions. How sick can you get?

Laura Sheaffer, a sales manager at Salem Media, attended the play and then shared her impressions in a radio interview with Joe Piscopo and then with Mediaite.

I always go to Shakespeare in the park, but I wasn’t expecting to see this,” Sheaffer said, adding that the script was mostly loyal to the original Shakespeare, and that there was no explicit reference to the American president, though the intention was “blatantly obvious.”

One example is the scene in which Caesar’s wife Calpurnia begs him not to go to the Senate that day. The actress playing the role had a resemblance to First Lady Melania Trump, and acted the part with a Slovenian accent.

The Senate murder scene takes place with an American flag raised overhead, with blood spewing everywhere as Caesar/Trump is stabbed repeatedly.

No Trump supporter, Sheaffer was nonetheless appalled by the depiction.

To be honest I thought it was shocking and distasteful. The message it sent was that if you don’t support the president, it’s ok to assassinate him.”

As many in the entertainment world lurch further into TDS, it’s obvious that they have little concern over any fallout. Dropping television ratings and dwindling box office revenues may be the only way to persuade them that Americans of all political stripes will no longer tolerate such gross disrespect for the President of the United States and our democratic election process.
