If anyone expects the events associated with the 2016 presidential campaign to go off in typical fashion, then that person is engaging in self-deception. Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, Benghazi scandal, Clinton Foundation scandal, and other crimes coupled with the just plain bitterness and vindictiveness of Hillary herself have afforded Mr. Trump a seemingly limitless array of targets. So it comes as no surprise that the “good-natured” joking that is supposed to be part of the Al Smith charity dinner in New York City went out the window.
Mr. Trump was especially effective in hammering Clinton for her corruption and criminality. In fact, it’s not a stretch to say that he devastated his opponent. Good liberals that so many New Yorkers are, you can hear them booing Mr. Trump, itself a break with tradition. Instead, they ought to be booing Hillary for the depths of her offenses against the people of this country and against its laws.
