Trump Demands Investigation into Schumer and Pelosi’s Relationship with Russian Officials

During Jeff Session’s Attorney General confirmation hearings, the senator claimed that he had not met with Russian officials as a member of the Trump campaign. Democrats said that was a lie because he met with a Russian ambassador during his concurrent work in the senate — but the only ones being disingenuous are the Democrats.

Following an online report showing photographs of Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New York City in 2003, President Donald Trump tweeted: “We should start an immediate investigation into @SenSchumer and his ties to Russia and Putin. A total hypocrite!”

The caption under the Associated Press photo said: “Russian President Vladimir Putin, right, enjoys a Krispy Kreme doughnut and coffee with Senator Charles Schumer from New York as Putin visits the first New York gas station of the Russian company Lukoil [on] Friday.”

While Schumer was outed as a hypocrite, Nancy Pelosi was caught in a bold-faced lie. Pelosi claimed that, unlike Sessions, she had never met with the current Russian ambassador. Politico proved otherwise.

A photo published on the Politico website shows House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in 2010 — a direct contradiction to her telling reporters at the website she had not met with the diplomat.

Of course, Donald Trump was quick to respond to her lie, as well:

The real story here is not that Democrats are hypocrites or whether they’re colluding with Russian officials. The real story is how far Democrats are willing to lie in order to regain power. They know that the Trump administration’s connections to Russia are standard government procedure, but they’re telling the American people otherwise and hoping they won’t notice.
