Ted Cruz Fights Back Against Trump on Birth Issue

Donald Trump warned Ted Cruz that he “better not attack” at a recent debate, and for a short time it looked as if that truce would hold. If this week is any indication, that promise has been thrown out the window, as both campaigns are slinging mud in the other’s direction.

GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s comments about whether or not Cruz is a “natural born” citizen and able to run for President of the United States–suggesting that Democrats are the ones prompting Trump to question Cruz’s citizenship.

“I will say it is more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal, left-wing, judicial activist Harvard law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter,” Cruz said to reporters in New Hampshire following a campaign rally, apparently referencing Harvard Law professor Lawrence Tribe’s legal analysis. “It starts to make you think, ‘Gosh, why are some of Hillary’s strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?’”

It looks as if the battle for Iowa may be an entertaining, negative one after all. Previous attacks against Trump have all been accompanied with a subsequent drop in poll numbers. Only time will tell if Cruz is the man who can finally pull it off.
