Susan Rice: Trump Supporters Belong in the “Trash Heap of History”

Susan Rice on Friday made the pitch for her running as Biden’s VP pick by condemning President Trump and all those that support him in the Senate “to the trash heap of history.”

She appeared to be referring to the February impeachment trial, when the GOP-led Senate acquitted the president of two articles of impeachment. Sen. Mitt Romney became the first senator to vote to remove a president of his own party.

Rice continued: “We need each of those who have been considered [in the] present or in the past to put all of our efforts, regardless of who he chooses, into helping get Joe Biden elected. And Amy Klobuchar reinforced that that was her priority last night, and I admire that enormously, and that’s my view as well.”

The statement also lends support to those tearing down monuments across the nation as it implies that all of history is a ‘trash heap.’

Some Twitter users reacted to the interview by noting the contradictory nature of Mrs. Rice’s messaging. The responses include:

“Nothing like claiming you want to heal the country while saying those who oppose you belong in a trash heap.”
“That’s a harsh way to talk about people, including her [Republican] son!”
“Strangely reminiscent of ‘the basket of Deplorables’ comment [by Hillary Clinton in 2016].
“More tolerance from the left. And you thought they respected your freedom of association.”
