Are Liberals truly more tolerant than Conservatives. If you were born on planet Earth (and most of us were) you would be aware of the predominant Liberal stream of consciousness that runs throughout the media and all Leftist and RINO politicians the world over is that Conservatives are intolerant of [name an issue] while Leftists (Liberals, Socialists, Communists and Fascists) are ultimately tolerant of everything.
This study, which comes off as an attempt to pull back the veil on the intricacies of discovering if Leftists are actually as tolerant as they insist, is nothing more than a laundry list, paragraph after paragraph, of social issues that conclude that Liberals hate Conservatives just as much as Conservatives hate Liberals.
Surprisingly, at one point while reading this study and wondering when the other shoe was going to drop, there was a moment when I thought, “Ah ha! Here comes the blame game. It’s all the Conservatives’ fault.” The statement in question was one that threw out the possibility that – get this – Conservatives are so intolerant that Liberals find themselves lured into the evils of intolerance and end up hating just as fervently as their counterparts. In other words, “If Conservatives weren’t so damned evil, we wouldn’t have to oppose them and, therefore, be labeled as anti-First Amendment!”
That was a fleeting aside, however. The author begins the article by citing recent violent rioting on the parts of Leftists out in California and in Washington State as a contrast to the Left’s insistence that Liberals are tolerant. Then, there’s this gem:
For years, it’s conservatives who have been branded as intolerant, often for good reason.
And that is the extent of evidence of the intolerance of Conservatives. The ‘good reasons’ are neither elaborated upon, nor are they even listed in a loose, haphazard way. Which is odd, considering that there are obviously “good reasons” to believe the Left as intolerant, as demonstrated in the opening.
So as not to be labeled as objective, however, the author ensures that we are aware that Liberals (despite being prejudiced) are still not to blame. The argument arises about intelligence and how that relates to discrimination.
In a study published last year in Social Psychological and Personality Science, he confirmed earlier findings linking low intelligence to prejudice, but showed it was only against particular groups.
What are those “particular groups?”
Low cognitive ability (as measured by a vocabulary test) correlated with bias against Hispanics, Asian Americans, atheists, gay men and lesbians, blacks, Muslims, illegal immigrants, liberals, whites, people on welfare and feminists. High cognitive ability correlated with bias against Christian fundamentalists, big business, Christians (in general), the Tea Party, the military, conservatives, Catholics, working-class people, rich people and middle-class people.
When Brandt controlled for participants’ demographics and traditionalism (smart people were more supportive of “newer lifestyles” and less supportive of “traditional family ties”…
So, are you seeing the thrust here? Smart people hate all things Conservative, while dumb people predominantly hate all things Liberal. Additionally, IF you’re smart, you’ll be more forward-thinking (i.e., Liberal) and also will distrust “traditional family.”
The biggest issue I had with this exhausting piece of practice in futility was that nearly every paragraph mirrored the one before. Liberals hate Conservatives and Conservatives hate Liberals.
My own conclusion: So what else is new?
