Parent claim that subliminal Islamic messaging, in the form of a geography lesson, took place at Riverheads High School in Augusta County, Virginia this week. The students were given what the district described as an art project, an assignment to write, “There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” in Arabic calligraphy.
Girls in the class were invited to dress in the Muslim style as well.
Parents were, of course, outraged at the assignment and on December 11th, met with the school district. The district saw no issue in the World Geography lesson saying, “There was no (sic) attempt at indoctrination to Islam or any other religion, or a request for students to renounce their own faith or profess any belief.”
Yet this statement is suspect, as there could have been so many other statements to practice artistic Arabic calligraphy and the educators specifically chose the shahada, the Muslim statement of faith.

Now is everyones turn to dress Christian, read rhe bible and repeat John 3;16 over and over.
This is BS glad it isn’t my kids because they won’t like what I’d do.
Corey I am not really defending this? I just don’t see this as TEACHING a religion. And I doubt if “assignments pertaining to islam keep popping up” more than most other religions. It’s just anything muslim in nature makes people that think that 2 Billion People are all terrorists freak out and write about it.
Yeah..add me so that we can be friends..
…and I don’t know what “self indoctrination” even means. Indoctrination means being taught to accept something without questioning it. Not sure how you could impose that on yourself.

I don’t know you personally; therefore I am not adding you. Sorry.
Were they also allowed to wear a Christian cross ? Let’s hear about fair play.
The school district tried to pull a fast one…they got caught! Parents must demand that their children not be exposed to this garbage. You can bet if it were a Christian saying, the aclu would have pounced immediately with threats and lawsuits … it’s so obvious whats really going on here.
Joann ummmm…..isn’t a coach an employee of the state? Again….Coaches, Teachers, people getting paid by tax dollars CANNOT LEAD THE PRAYER….students are more than welcome to take it upon themselves though.
