Student Arrested For ‘Impeach Obama’ Banner, Files Suit

OK, let’s get real here. He wasn’t brought in for impugning the good name of Barack Hussein Obama. The president does that well enough already. Chances are the student was possibly disrupting traffic and illegally posting a banner which is usually outlawed in most places.

So, when police charged Hofstra University senior Danny Martins with disorderly conduct, it probably was not about the banner or the flag. It was that he displayed both the banner and an American flag on a pedestrian walkway above the expressway in Jericho, New York.

And before anyone gets all anti-Republican, Martins said he’s a member of the university’s Libertarian Club.

Nassau County prosecutors argued that the libertarian’s activities posed a traffic hazard, the trial judge eventually dismissed all charges against Martins.

See? A tempest in a teapot…or on an overpass. However, it is called the First Amendment freedom of expression, although the method used was not well thought out.

Martins has been displaying political messages from overpasses since 2013, the New York Post reported. So, Hofstra University should be ashamed that its students can’t come up with more creative and less illegal methods of protest…unless, of course, his major is in outdoor advertising.
