Something bizarre is happening off the coast of Galveston, Texas. Were you to look toward the sea in the Texas port town, you’d be subject to a oceanic traffic jam of epic proportions. Ships carrying oil have gathered along the coast in the Gulf of Mexico in such great quantities that ships approaching the port have been asked to move toward the town slowly in an attempt to ease the burden.
This phenomenon is directly tied to the huge amounts of oil stored internationally and in floating container ships across the world. As oil prices fall, stockpiles of the resource are going through the roof, and governments and companies don’t have anywhere else to store it.
This could cause the price of oil to fall catastrophically further, as supply far exceeds demand for the time being.

Not this again! lol!
We troll those ships every Summer to catch Kingfish as the hang underneath them to get out of the Sun.
All those ships are 7 miles offshore at anchorage. The majority of them are waiting to either off load or on load products, from crude to gasoline and everything inbetween. They sit out there at anchorage awaiting permission and their turn to head in. They either head to Galveston Docks, Texas City Docks or up the channel to Houston Docks.
They sit out there at what is called the Intersection. The ships sit outside the Traffic Lanes at the Fairway Anchorage. The pic above shows a red buoy to the right, which means that the stock photo you used are the ships sitting at anchorage inside the Galveston Jetties, as there are no buoys out at the Fairway Anchorage.
There are anchorage spots inside of the Galveston Jetties for them to sit at also. That is how wide the Jetties are. The area right off the Texas City Dike, between the Dike, Bolivar and Galveston is the busiest waterway in the World.
That is where the Galveston Channel, Texas City Channel and Houston Channel converges to head out to the Gulf. The Inter-coastal Canal, which runs from Brownsville, Texas to Fort Myers, Florida, runs right through where all three Channels converge. It is where the Barges move their products.
Plus the Ferries that run between Bolivar and Galveston, crosses right through everything. It is super busy out there.
Now there are some ships out there which are being leased by companies to serve as storage. They are loaded with crude, but there is nothing bizarre about any of it.
Our Reserves are full to the brim, all the storage tanks inside the refineries are full, so companies are now storing crude offshore at Anchorage. Some companies are buying crude at these low prices and storing it out there waiting and hoping for prices to rise again. Then they can sell it for profit.
Ships are continually inbound and outbound loaded with crude. There are more ships actually transporting crude than the ones out there storing it.
Nothing new or bizarre about any of this. I’ve been fishing these waters all my life, plus working at the FD full time and an Emergency Environmental Cleanup Company part time, I see what’s going on out there daily.
No big deal. lol!
Here is a map showing the Fairway Anchorage. On my computer at home, I have pics of us catching the Kingfish out there with the ships in the background.
This is not unusual. I’ve been flying up and down the Texas coast for 20 years and see the oil tankers lined up at anchor all the time. Often as far as the eye can see from an airplane.
The Gulf was also foggy for 3 days last week. Fog causes everything on the channel to come to a grinding halt.
Supposedly, according Broadcast and Print news, right now the U.S. is producing more oil than can be used and we are exporting, so why are the oil companies importing oil?
What a wonderful world we live in today. So proud of our government!
This is bull. We have a place in a Galveston. For several years the ships are always anchored off shore. Just waiting to load or unload. Nothing new here.
Search: Lightering Operations. I worked on a “fender boat”. Search fender boat too. People, don’t shoot til you see the whites of their eyes! GEEEEEZ
It is interesting that that folks who have titled themselves as “Truth and Action” are apparently posting content which is neither true nor actionable.
Is that Galveston or texas city.when ewe go to Texas city dikes we can see these ships.is this Texas city or galveston
I like that prices are decreasing, but it’s scary to know that so many oil ships are out there off the coast waiting for a catastrophe!!
