You could be forgiven for having a difficult time following all the players in the continuing saga that has engulfed Congressional committees, the president, the FBI, the NSA, Russia, the Clintons, former FBI Director Comey, WikiLeaks, the media, and who know how many others. The old baseball adage fits: “You can’t tell the players without a scorecard.”
Continuing the baseball metaphor, part of the problem is that it’s not entirely clear who is on whose team. Or for that matter, it’s not clear how many teams there are.
When one sits down to write a piece about this turmoil, one question that comes to mind is how much do potential readers already know, and how much time should be spent rehearsing information in an attempt to help clarify things rather than to obfuscate — something our politicians do well enough anyway.
So when we begin a piece with the assertion that Special Counsel Mueller might be accused of doing the very thing former FBI Director Comey accused President Trump of doing, do your eyes just glaze over, or is this all crystal clear to you?
We’ll try to straighten this out and clarify things for you, as well as hopefully explaining why this is important on page two.
He hasn’t failed anyone. All those things he spoke of are coming soon! Sometimes good things take longer than seven months, especially when he has to fight against a large majority of very corrupt career politicians.
Christopher Shocklee it’s not the Trump show – the Democrats are the ones that called for it and running it and yes we ARE tired of their lies and game playing trying to take the focus off their own dirty doings.
Trumps only failure was trusting you slimy liberals everything he has tried to do he has faced obstruction but he still has done more for this country in his short time than obonehead did in 8 years. And obonehead is still trying to distroy this country to make it a muslim new world order. But obonehead is a lier and thief and the majority of people know this the only ones who dont are the ones with their heads stuck up that donkey,s butt.
Need to recuse himself.
Fire his ass
Tough to do anything when half of congress and half the country have the same pissy attitude you have. Maybe if congress wasn’t investigating everyone something could get done. Oh yeah all the investigations has lne person gone to jail? F**e BS to obstruct progress exactly why the DFL was voted out. Once the country puts a stop to meaningless committees maybe something can get accomplished.
Mueller’s long friendship with Comey is such an obvious conflict of interest we must question why this is allowed to continue; we are on the edge of the first coup d’etat in our history and republicans are doing nothing.
Mueller needs to go.
Mike Evans-
Thank you for your post.
The President has indeed signed a record number of EOs, many without effect as they would require future legislative follow up, but many did immediately affect business, food and occupational safety, environmental protections and the like. Large blocs of voters and generally majorities disagree with these actions.
Actual legislation that has made it to the President’s desk is paltry. Aside from the sanctions bill against Russia, Iran and North Korea which includes language stripping the President of his executive control of sanctions matters, there has been little else accomplished with the Republican controlled Congress.
The Saudi trip accomplished little other than the sale of over $100B of state of the art weapon systems to the nation Trump identified during the campaign as the greatest funder of terrorism in the world.
Despite Trump’s claims to the contrary, he inherited a well-ordered, strong domestic, economic and international situation.
Jobs growth, market increases, immigration trends, etc. are all merely a continuation of momentum generated over eight years of responsible stewardship by Obama. The corporations who you anecdotally cite had long established plans to grow their domestic operations. Trump has supported these agendas, but has done little to significantly alter anything macro-economically.
Straw man arguments pertaining to murders of Americans by illegal immigrants are cynical and manipulative. No one supports the killers of Kate Steinle or anyone else. These crimes like all crimes must be prevented. And they can be without punishing tens of thousands of good people who contribute to society and who are of value to our communities. Better solutions must be found.
Trump’s ability to leverage China against North Korea has not been demonstrated. North Korea will be a major test for the President. To his credit, we are not yet at war. This could get bad quick if the US makes the wrong decisions.
His withdrawal of the US from the Paris Accords will cost the US a leadership role in the emerging global alternative energy and environmental sustainability industries.
The Russia nightmare which has dominated the Trump Presidency is a cataclysm of monumental proportions, affecting global economic and security environments and quickly creating a constitutional crisis at home.
The appointment of Neil Gorsuch is a positive result of a destructive process and a bad precedent.
Taken as a whole, Trump’s accomplishments to date are unimpressive.
His constant lying, his large in-your-face financial conflicts of interest and his ever increasing legal jeopardies greatly diminish his ability to effectively lead the country.
Dottie-
Since you may have powerful connections I will just say God Bless You.
