If the reactions of leftists around the world is any indication, Donald Trump has succeeded in provoking the largest “triggering” of liberals up to date.
For those who can’t keep up with the constant stream of leftist lingo, “triggering” refers to a highly-distressed emotional state said to be caused by hearing certain words. While the idea of “triggering” has some basis in cases of post-traumatic stress disorder in which veterans and rape victims are distressed by experiences that remind them of the events that led to their condition, progressives have butchered it into a tool to silence opposition by making it appear that people who disagree with them are causing grievous harm to their psychological well-being.
In fact, “triggering” is the calling card of a new breed of liberal, the “social justice warrior”, who has made it their life goal to shut down anyone who deviates from the radical left’s agenda.

More proof liberalism is a mental disorder!
A lot of people seem to be really bent out of shape because Hillary beat Trump in the popular vote. The very short answer… Irrelevant. Everyone knew the game that was played and the rules that were in place well in advance and they tailored their strategies accordingly. No one knows how the popular vote would have turned out if that were the game that was being played. It wasn’t. Get over it and do a better job of choosing a candidate next time. That’s precisely the advice I *thought* I’d be giving to the Repubs after the election 😉
Let’s use the 1960 World Series as a comparison. In a World Series, there are up to 7 individual games. In a presidential election, there are 51 individual elections (50 states + DC). The goal of each W.S. game is to score more runs than the opponent. The goal of each of the 51 individual elections is to garner more votes than your opponent.
But ultimately, the goal of any W.S. team is to win 4 of the 7 individual games, not to score more overall runs than the opponent. Just as ultimately, the goal of a presidential election is win enough individual states to reach 270 electoral votes, not to get more overall votes than the opponent.
These are the rules everyone knows going in. There are no surprises.
Now, in the 1960 W.S., the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the NY Yankees 4 games to 3 DESPITE the fact that the Yankees outscored the Pirates overall in the 7 games by a whopping margin of 55-27. If the goal were to score more runs, the Yankees would have won easily. Buuuttt… on the flip side, had those been the rules, the Pirates would have adjusted their strategy. When they got way behind in a game, rather than pitching a bad pitcher so as not to burn a good one in a pointless game, they may have put in one of their best pitchers to keep the Yankees from scoring more runs.
But because the W.S. is all about winning the most GAMES their strategy was to just get through the game and they didn’t care if they lost by 5 runs or by 10 runs. In other words, it didn’t matter if the Yankees piled up runs in games they were already going to win so the Pirates adjusted their strategy to fit those terms.
Conversely, presidential campaigns tailor their strategy to fit the rules that are in place. For example, Repub candidates don’t care how many votes the Dem candidates pile up in places like NY, CA, MA and IL. If campaigns were all about winning the popular vote, Repub candidates would be campaigning hard in those states and running constant ads. Additionally, voter behavior would change as Repubs in those states would be much more likely to vote because they’d feel as though their votes would actually matter.
So for those of you lamenting the fact that Hillary “should” have won because she won the popular vote, take heart… if those had been the rules, she probably would have lost anyway 😉
