Sixteen States With The Will To Block Obama’s Latest Insanity


This is, of course, is another attempt by the president to wage war on the coal industry, and it’s something the states affected aren’t taking lightly.

Sixteen states and a handful of others are preparing to sue the administration, claiming the presidential edict issued Monday exceeded Obama’s authority. Bolstered by a recent Supreme Court ruling against the administration’s mercury limits, opponents argued that states should not be forced to prepare to comply with a rule that may get thrown out by the courts.

The Obama plan may impact consumers in more than just the 16 states fighting the edict. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, the National Mining Association, the American Energy Alliance, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Obama’s proposal would increase utility bills.

Looking at the pros and cons of this proposal, if it were to be passed, the economic risk is far too much. Is it really worth crippling the economy for something nobody can prove is actually happening (at least not at the rate they say it is)? With so many bigger issues at play in the United States, spending money on a something like this seems a bit irresponsible.
