In light of the recent scandals concerning the VA’s mishandling of our veterans, another unfortunate secret emerged: most of America’s veterans receive zero dental benefits or oral care from the VA.
Dr. Charles Zahedi, the founder and Clinical Director of the not-for-profit organization, Dentists for Veterans, is the very first dentist in United States to have started a pilot program to conduct a nationwide study and initiative to precisely assess the feasibility and advisability of furnishing dental care to veterans under section 1705 of title 38, United States Code, who are not eligible for dental services and treatment.
By carrying out this pilot program, Dentists for Veterans will enable the Veterans Administration to better specify performance standards and metrics and processes for ensuring compliance with the hopes that these will one day be funded by federally-directed dental treatment programs. In addition, by executing this program, Dentists for Veterans will be able to rapidly identify those veterans who are completely orally disabled.
Until that funding is secured, Dentists for Veterans is rallying patriotic Americans to donate a minimum of $25 to build and furnish mobile dental facilities that will drive around America and treat veterans who lack the funds and means to get proper dental care.

That’s a fact.
According to the politicians we should wait for our veterans to die so we don’t have to spend on dental care for them. It leaves more money for their perks.
it should cover everything.
I’ve lost quite a few teeth and was told by a VA doctor that is was PROBABLY due to the chemicals we encountered in Vietnam and in Iraq. Dental care from the VA? Nonexistent.
My husband lost all of his teeth and required dentures. VA would not treat this as they said he had to have suffered a injury to the mouth while in the service that would cause dental damage. You can bet our Congressional leaders have dental coverage.
So said – and yet Obama sends thousands of our money to our enemies.
I know, they say it has to be service connected, now what does that mean? I guess if your teethj got knocked out while you were in combat. How many vets have had that happen to them? Can’t be many. I was in service when they pulled all my teeth out. Is that service connected? I had to pay out of pocket to get dentures 2000 dollars. They have dentists for the staff not for the vets in the V.A.
Ya while losers in prison gets medical, dental and education free. I say send the prison losers to Iraq to fight
I enlisted in 1965, I reenlisted for the first time in 1969. Why? First because I loved the U. S. Coast Guard and what I was doing. As important was the benefits that I was orally promised, free dental and medical care FOR LIFE IF I made it a career and stayed through retirement. I stayed until retirement. Dental benefits are NON EXISTENT! PERIOD! The lesson I learned was to get everything in writing, EVERYTHING! Leave nothing out, EVER! My government lied to me and thousands if not millions of veterans over the years and I in turn kept that lie alive by encouraging others to make the military a career not knowing it was a lie. So should I be so distrustful of a government that would like to its citizens now – absolutely not. Has there ever been a President who has lied as often as Obama and gotten totally away with it – ABSOLUTELY NOT!
But illegals and prison inmates get it…..impeach!
