A sheriff in Pinellas County, Florida has a warning for anyone willing to come near him with a gun, he’s threatening them with his own.
The locally known anti-gun cop made the statements in response to open carry legislation being floated in his city. It attempts to make arming law abiding citizens easier, so that they can better defend themselves should they find their lives at risk.
How ironic that a man who fears for his own life in the presence of lawful gun ownership should resort to the very thing that he opposes — a gun — in order to protect himself.
It’s unlikely the cop thought of that before he threatened to kill the very citizens he’s employed to protect.
Cops have been put in a bad light recently for shooting at criminals when they think that their lives are in danger. It has been proven time and time again that their actions are reasonable and legal in a court of law. This man, however, may be the face of what a bad cop looks like: one who openly tries to take a citizen’s gun by threatening to use his own.

I replied twice to this story from “Truth And Action” on Friday 9/30 about 04:30, and I will not delete them for the purpose of clarifying my next point…that being I made the mistake of trusting that Truth And Action quoted Sheriff Guatieri directly…which it did not…I am writing this reply at 10:30 same day, and in the past 6 hours I did some digging…I landed on two stories which lead me to believe that Sheriff Gualtieri was misquoted and taken totally out of context by T&A, one by Mitch Perry at “Florida Politics” dated Dec. 14, 2015 at 5:55 PM, and the other by Margie Menzel at “The News Service Of Florida” dated Dec. 14, 2015 no time given; I did not post the links for these stories as one of the news services warns against it, but both stories are on Google…one of the stories did show the direct quotes from Sheriff Gualtieri on Dec. 11, 2015 that were taken out of context by T&A, and it seems the Sheriff is not the anti-gun demon that is all over Facebook…as responsible gun owners, we (most of us) of course want to be on the same side with the law, which is why we try to own and carry our guns within the parameters of the law…the things Sheriff Gualtieri REALLY said on 12/11/15 makes alot of sense…legal law-abiding gun owners, I feel, have the responsibility to try to appreciate the cop’s perspective…when a cop arrives at a crime scene, they never automatically know who’s the bad guy and who’s the good guy, and they have the job of sorting that all out, with the ultimate goal of going home in one piece at the end of their shift…if we responsible gun owners give the cops the benefit-of-the-doubt on the dangers of the job they do, then they will give us the same when the gun-grabbing politicians start running their mouths…and it looks like a good place to start, would be to take the sensationalism of T&A with a grain of salt, and dig just a little bit deeper…I don’t have to tell anybody reading this how our Second Amendment rights have been in constant jeopardy for the last 8 years…one of the best ways to counteract that, is to show law enforcement that we are on their side…But, the Billy Jack quote stands as it is.
Asshole
shut up ass
He’s not the brightest of Sheriff’s.
Under federal law, 18 USC 242, it is illegal for anyone under the color of law to deprive any person of the rights, privileges or immunities secured by the U.S. Constitution, and under 18 USC 241 it is illegal to conspire to violate such rights. It is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. This could be applied to local, state, or federal law enforcement or military personnel who abuse the rights of citizens. Every state has a similar law.
You stay in your state and I will make sure I won’t go to your state .
