Sharpton: Bill Maher Must be Punished for His Use of the N-Word

TMZ caught up with the always-opinionated “Reverend” Al Sharpton to ask him about the whole messy Bill Maher situation and his massive stupidity by blurting the N-word on his HBO show.

True-to-form, Sharpton called him out for the moronic display and I was somewhat gratified to see another Leftist eat his own; however, in so doing, I also wondered if anyone was going to take Mr. Outrage to task for all his racist comments over the decades that he has been in the public eye.  I wasn’t going to hold my breath on that one, because it was mostly rhetorical, but there it is.

During his diatribe, he managed to throw in some references to other “outrageous” uses of the N-word that he had championed, apparently, in his years of public service.  He quickly mentioned the fact that he called out “rappers” for their use of the word.  While not specifically naming and “rappers,” he appeared to be more focused on actually naming two White guys for their…well, we can’t really say use of the N-word, because, as far as I know, neither of them ever used the N-word.

But now we’re getting into facts and that is not the point.  He talked about Imus infamous use of the words “nappy-headed hos” when shamefully referencing the Rutgers University girls’ basketball team players back in 2007, for which the radio talk show host got massive amounts of flak and finally was fired from CBS.  But as far as use of the N-word, I’m pretty sure that he didn’t.

Inexplicably, he threw in Rush Limbaugh name, almost as an aside, and it didn’t go by unnoticed…at least by me.  If my Limbaugh archival knowledge is correct (and it is) he has never used the N-word, either on his radio program or during other appearances and shows.  What Sharpton might be referencing is Limbaugh using the phrase, “Barack, the ‘Magic Negro'” when talking about a song parody in which the lyrics were sung by someone doing an impression of Al Sharpton.  The original use of the phrase actually came from an LA Times article back in 2007 by David Ehrenstein, entitled, “Obama, the ‘Magic Negro'” where he explains:

The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. “He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist,” reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro .

He’s there to assuage white “guilt” (i.e., the minimal discomfort they feel) over the role of slavery and racial segregation in American history, while replacing stereotypes of a dangerous, highly sexualized black man with a benign figure for whom interracial sexual congress holds no interest.

So, I reiterate…as far as I’m aware, neither he nor Imus ever used the N-word.

I guess it really comes down to the fact that, as far as Leftists go, it appears that they are the ones who habitually and, actually, obsessively use the N-word.  When it comes down to brass tacks, most people on the Right never use the word.  So, it really begs the question:  Should Liberals be banned from ever using the term again?  And, if they do, being that they’re such huge believers in Big Brother Government, should they be jailed for such usage to stop this apparent Leftist epidemic usage of the N-word?

My vote is “yes.”
