No Child Left Behind is almost a thing of the past! On Wednesday, December 9, the U.S. Senate passed, with ease, the Every Student Succeeds Act which will drastically alter how the federal government will undertake K-12 education. The bill has already passed the House and is waiting for Obama’s signature, who is supportive because of the failure of No Child Left Behind and Common Core. It has received bipartisan support, even though it transfers education policy to the States.
The Department of Education has lost a great deal of power, while States have been given much more oversight in the area how to use federal funds, intervention in failing schools and teacher evaluations. Another vital change is the prohibition of any federal government action to force states, or incentivize states to adopt Common Core. For those of you who don’t know the history of Common Core. It was originally called China Core. It is the style of education Mao Tse-tung used in China to indoctrinate the people into Communism. Just because the media says NCLB and Common Core are done away with…. Remember, the devil is in the details. And remember MANY states are still using Common Core and just don’t call it Common Core any more because of the backlash they got from the concerned people. And, the media hasn’t said what the Feds are going to replace it with. Let’s be honest, when was the last time you have ever heard of the federal government giving up power….. To anyone…. Including the states. Remember, Senators are no longer appointed so the state has a voice in the federal government. Do your research.
