Repealing the Second Amendment would seemingly be an impossible task. But the left will not so easily give up.
But if the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges teaches us anything, it’s that the age of judicial supremacy means that five justices can amend the Constitution far more efficiently than Congress and the state legislatures. And right now there are clearly four Supreme Court justices who are committed to the absurd view that the operative clause of the Second Amendment — “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” — doesn’t actually mean “the right of the people” and therefore doesn’t encompass an individual right to own a weapon, even for self-defense. More of this theory on the next page:
As other commenters with more education than a day in the corn patch have pointed out, the Supreme Court cannot repeal the 2nd Amendment. Only Congress, with the approval of 2/3rds of the states, can do that. What the Court could do is overrule Heller, and decide that the 2nd Amendment does not provide an individual right to own firearms. That amounts to the same thing in some people’s minds.
Or maybe its 3/4 of the states. Can’t remember. Back to the corn patch for me.
I believe it requires a Constitutional Convention. And if one was called the 2nd Amendment wouldn’t be the only thing on the table to be discussed.
I like that the same site promotes the idea the “the US will fall under Obama” and that “millions” will be interned in “Oklahoma FEMA camps”. Good context.
You learn a lot on the internet!
Do what they will, I will not comply. Attempts to take that which is mine will result in the chambering of live rounds which will be expended on those that attempt to take my property.
Quit quoting Abraham Lincoln.
More fear-mongering and proof that right wingers cannot pass grade school political science.
SCOTUS can not repeal an amendment, they can only limit the scope of the amendment.
they cant repeal or enact any laws only the house and senate can and then it has to be signed by the pres, ans being we dont have a pres at the moment the point is moot
