School Librarian Rejects Melania Trump’s Book Donations

Melania Trump chooses to help schools celebrate National Read A Book Day by sending select schools packets containing 10 Dr. Seuss Books, including her own young son’s personal favorite growing-up Oh, the Places You’ll Go.

One school from each state was chosen by the White House to receive ten Dr. Seuss books as part of National Read a Book Day.

“Getting an education is perhaps the most important and wondrous opportunity of your young lives,” Mrs. Trump said in a letter to the children who will be receiving books.

The school librarian at one of the school’s selected, Cambridgeport Elementary School wasn’t having any of it though.

The school’s librarian, Liz Phipps Soeiro, wrote a lengthy editorial for the Horn Book’s Family Reading blog explaining why her school does not need the books.

“My students were interested in reading your enclosed letter and impressed with the beautiful bookplates with your name and the indelible White House stamp, however, we will not be keeping the titles for our collection,”

The children loved your thoughtful gift BUT I am a selfish liberal snowflake and I am TRIGGERED.

Soeiro’s complaints read like a whiny self-loathing girl attacking another woman for having the audacity to be a great person.

“My students have access to a school library with over nine thousand volumes and a librarian with a graduate degree in library science. Multiple studies show that schools with professionally staffed libraries improve student performance,” wrote Phipps Soeiro.

Am I not good enough? One imagines a seething insecure Soeiro breathlessly sobbing to herself while frantically reaching for a brown paper bag.

I graduated with my masters! I know everything! If the children needed a good book – I’d have already had it in my library! My job is important – not a soon to be obsolete career replaced by a computer of the intern! The mean fascist 1st lady trying to suggest that I’m not the ONLY person who can pick out what children read.

Cue the attack on Dr. Seuss… Melania didn’t do anything. It’s deflecting time.

The librarian’s editorial also criticizes the First Lady’s book selections, which include The Cat in the Hat; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; The Foot Book; Green Eggs and Ham; and Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

“You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children’s literature. As First Lady of the United States, you have an incredible platform with world-class resources at your fingertips.”

She writes that “Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes,” and attached a list of book recommendations for Trump that featured stories about children from different cultures.

The left only knows a handful of insults and their favorite by far is the race card. Melania Trump’s gift was innocent, thoughtful, and reflective of her own personal observations raising her son Barron.

But Soeiro felt the urge to attack so “racism” was dragged out and leveraged against the 1st lady via the beloved children’s author.

I am not an expert when it comes to the life of Dr. Seuss. Yes, I am aware he drew a few cartoons for the U.S. government during WW2 encouraging the notion that Japanese-American citizens might possibly be sleeper agents for the enemy.

But, I don’t exactly find that fair or objective grounds for labeling EVERYTHING Dr. Seuss created racist – and neither should it to anyone with a brain bigger than a Who!.

Furthermore, not even the cantankerous social justice warrior liberal educator in question actually believes Dr. Seuss books are racist. Because IF Soeiro really thought Dr. Seuss was racist – how can you explain this? These pictures of the “racism” screaming librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro comes straight from the School’s own social media accounts!

She may as well just be wearing blackface and beating her chest – little racist she-devil.

O MY GOD I HOPE SHE ISN’T GOING TO LYNCH THAT DOLL!!!

School officials have spoken out in wake of this controversy stating Soeiro lacked the right to speak out on behalf of the school.

The Cambridge School system says the opinions in the editorial do not represent the district and released a statement, which says in part:

“In this instance, the employee was not authorized to accept or reject donated books on behalf of the school or school district. We have counseled the employee on all relevant policies, including the policy against public resources being used for political purposes.”

However, most parents don’t seem to have too much of a problem with her taking Mrs. Trump to task for being a nice person who likes books (as opposed to an empty-headed social justice warrior librarian propagandist).

Parents picking their children up outside the elementary school on Wednesday were quick to support the librarian.

“That’s the librarian’s prerogative and I support her decision,” said parent Eric Munson.

“I think the letter is really articulate, constructive in its suggestions,” said parent Alex Vanpraagh.

Yeah. These kids are going to turn out great. What shining examples of logical thinking.

Isn’t it racist to imply someone hates minorities JUST to bash your political opponents or those you dislike?

But, it would be a liberal take-down of 1st lady Melania Trump without hypocrisy.
