For Americans who support law enforcement and trust them to safeguard both their liberties and their well-being, it is disheartening to hear officers say that the way to protect the latter is by curtailing the former.
San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia is one such officer, as he revealed in an interview with San Jose Inside. Asked about the topics of the day, Garcia not only expressed support for the controversial Black Lives Matter movement, but also voiced opposition to laws allowing Americans to own firearms for their protection.
As one might be wont to point out, a majority of law enforcement officers believe that Americans should retain the right to bear arms, meaning that Garcia is clearly in the minority on the issue. However, his position as chief of police for the 10th largest city in the country means that his opinion will carry weight among the uninformed and be cited by liberals as support for their anti-gun agenda.

The reduction or elimination of guns in the hands of criminals and idiots is a pipe dream of the most unrealistic people who don’t analyze the issue too thoroughly. Laws have zero to do with it in America. Its demand and supply, just like drugs, and out of 196 countries in the world, how many have enough resources to make and supply guns illegally in America and sneak them in easier than an illegal alien can sneak in?
And he said it with a straight face. I guess he wants some Chicago style gun control.
People’s Republic of California.
Interesting. I reported nearby gunfire one night and had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for police who could not have been less interested. While it turned out not to be an emergency, there was no way they could know that. I was very glad to have been armed.
Retard alert!
He’s obviously looking to be cali politician after he leaves law enforcement…. #douchebag
Back in ’73 Kansas City hired a New York cop named Joe McNamara as our new Police chief. He was anti-gun and made a public statement that he looked forward to the day when cops wouldn’t have guns. Next day a number of high ranking KC cops came to work with bananas in their holsters. McNamara lasted about three years before he was run off. He then became San Jose’s chief. If I remember right, he got ran out of San Jose too.
Ok. Start with yours and go from there
Wow. This guy is clueless. How bout instead of slaps on the wrist for ANY crime committed with a gun you get 20 plus years minimum. One way or another the gun crimes would go down. Either they’d think more about committing the crime and don’t or they’d be in prison till they are old and cant commit crimes. Enforce the laws on the books and follow through.
What do you expect? San Jose, C a l i f o r n i a
