For Americans who support law enforcement and trust them to safeguard both their liberties and their well-being, it is disheartening to hear officers say that the way to protect the latter is by curtailing the former.
San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia is one such officer, as he revealed in an interview with San Jose Inside. Asked about the topics of the day, Garcia not only expressed support for the controversial Black Lives Matter movement, but also voiced opposition to laws allowing Americans to own firearms for their protection.
As one might be wont to point out, a majority of law enforcement officers believe that Americans should retain the right to bear arms, meaning that Garcia is clearly in the minority on the issue. However, his position as chief of police for the 10th largest city in the country means that his opinion will carry weight among the uninformed and be cited by liberals as support for their anti-gun agenda.

Assault weapons has been redefined. An assault weapon is an automatic, and you need special permits to own one, they are very restricted. A semi automatic is not an assault weapon. And besides, when you see that 99.5% of all gun cries are committed by persons illegally possessing the firearm, there should be no problem for a legal firearm owner to possess an auto weapon, they don’t committ crimes, or at least it is very rare.

The Difference between a Sheriff and a Police Chief. A Sheriff is still the only law enforcement officer elected by the people. Unlike a Chief a Sheriff is not controlled by the political machine in charge of a city. A Sheriff does not owe their job to other elected officials. A Sheriff is elected directly to their job by the people and this is why you see so many Sheriff’s around the country refusing to enforce gun control laws that are a threat to the safety of the people who elected them. If California passes their Sanctuary State law what are they going to do with the Sheriffs who will still cooperate with ICE? Arrest them? For what complying with federal law. And how can they make a Sheriff obey state law if the same state will not obey Federal law. This is why it is important to make sure you vote for a good Sheriff. They maybe the only law enforcement actually willing to protect the people.
