Russia Retaliates Against Sanctions By Closing International School

In a move that was roundly applauded by the newfound Cold Warriors in D.C. and the media, President Obama announced that not only was he imposing sanctions on Russia, but that he also was forcing 35 of their diplomats to leave the country. Not willing to take this sitting down, Russia has responded by closing the Anglo-American School of Moscow, an international school that has students from several Western countries:

“The K-12 school is chartered by the American, Canadian and British embassies in Moscow and has about 1,250 students from 60 countries, according to its website. Students are currently on winter break.

CNN also reported that a U.S. embassy vacation house in Serebryany Bor near Moscow will be closed as well.

Russian officials warned Thursday that there will be countermeasures in response to the sanctions.”
