We have all heard the stories about Senator John McCain’s exemplary military service. We have all been treated to the endless references to his wounds from the war that were inflicted through his agonizing years of torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese.
We are all, by now, through one term as a US Representative, five terms as a US Senator (and counting), and three presidential primary runs where he was expected in the early going in 1999 to be able to defeat Al Gore, familiar with his excellence in service to America. Of course, in that race, he ultimately bowed to the superiority of the Bush family when George W. came on the scene to wrap up the primary race in a big way and ultimately embarrass the senator with a win of 47 states.
McCain tried again in 2004 to a worse jumping-off point, but rebounded in 2008, winning the primary, only to be completely consumed by the massive and corrupt political activist machine powered by the cult of personality that was Barack Obama. You could almost call John McCain the slightly less feminine version of Hillary Clinton.
This is not to mention all the completely fawning press coverage that he has enjoyed over the decades since his return from captivity in 1973 (with the notable exception of his run against the hallowed personage of Obama…even the press is not going to cut their throats that deeply for a dirty Republican).
We now know that all of the lies that were told about his captivity were the first chapter in a mythology for the purposes of a long and lucrative political career. We know about how he and John Kerry paired to bury information about POW/MIA personnel to hide their own shameful past in the “prisons” of Indochina.
Allegations have been made by many that the hellish inferno aboard the USS Forrestal in 1967 that caused 134 sailors and airmen to lose their lives…all due to a PRANK by then airmen John McCain!

Okay… for the Gullible that are to lazy to do research, here is the USS Forrestal story.
July 28th 1967 , the Forrestal replenished underway from the supply ship USS Diamondhead. She took on board new MA65 1000 lbs bombs, as the regularly used MA83 1000 lbs were not available.
There were safety issues with these new bombs that the Air Wing was made aware of. That is bomb handlers, ground crews and pilots only. Basically the new bombs were extremely sensitive to handling and fire. The older MA83 type could be exposed to a 10 min fire , before it would Cook Off. The flight crews made the Capt (Cpt John Beling) aware of their safety concerns . He decided to go ahead with the next days mission, as they couldn’t get replacement arms on board in less than 24 hrs. On the morning of July 29th 1967 in the Gulf of Tonkin flight preparations were taking place on the Forrestal. Aircraft were being launched on the fore deck as other aircraft were being prepared on the aft deck. At the rear of the aft deck stack was… an F4 Phantom #110 that was switching from external power to internal power… when an electric surge caused a Zuni rocket to fire and launch across deck. That rocket struck the A4 Skyhawk of LCmd Fred White aircraft #405 VA-46 Squadron . It struck the external fuel tanks and explode immediately. The MA65 1000 lb bombs of aircraft #405 released and rolled into the burning jet fuel on deck. Fire Damage control team #8 headed up by Chief Farrier Immediately takes his 8 man crew into action and fire suppression efforts. However, they were unaware of the sensitivity of the new munitions and believed they had a 10 min window to fight the fire. It’s at this time LCmd McCain exits his A4 Skyhawk #416 VA-46 by sliding down its refueling probe (as seen in the video) and scurried away. McCain , as all the flight crews knew… the bombs had only seconds before detonation. At this time the bombs from aircraft #405 Cook Off and instantly kill All of Fire team #8. Those bombs detonated in 1:36 min after the original fire began. LCmd is injured in his escape… he’s also seen assisting an injured crewmember away from the fire. It is at this time that Capt. Beling orders the flight crews (which includes pilots) below deck and ordered All ship crews to their damage control operations. In all, 9 MA65 1000 lbs exploded killing 134 crewmembers and injuring another 161.
It was determined that Zuni rocket that fired from the F4 Phantom during the electrical surge… was due to a safety pin not being installed properly. It’s felt the bomb handling crews were so concerned about the sensitivity of the MA65 bombs… they overlooked a simple safety act.
Like I originally said… I’m No fan of McCain. But… spreading a False story of this incident does a tremendous amount of disrespect to those who bravely gave their all that day and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
