Reparations Activist Endorses Sanders, But Demands Even More Free Stuff

Mitt Romney once said — to eternal damnation from the press — that 47% of America would never vote for him because they are too reliant on government handouts to ever consider voting for a Republican. Well it looks as if Bernie Sanders is going after that 47% this election cycle, promising everything for free while paying for it from the pockets of the hard working middle class of America.

Apparently, however, for some in the African American community, his promises of free healthcare and free education simply aren’t enough. They want more – slavery reparations.

Ta-Nehisi Coates, a far-left writer and a famous national correspondent for the Atlantic magazine, has endorsed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
for president.

“I will be voting for Senator Sanders,” Coates said Wednesday in an interview. “I have tried to avoid this question, but yes, I will be voting for Senator Sanders.”

A once obscure writer on culture and race, Coates became famous among the highbrow denizens of contemporary liberalism and after the 2014 publication of his treatise, The Case for Reparations.

Still, Coates has castigated Sanders, who said he would not support reparations for slavery.

“One can be very, very critical of Senator Sanders on this specific issue,” Coates said. “One can say Senator Sanders should have more explicit anti-racist policy within his racial-justice platform, not just more general stuff and still cast a vote for Senator Sanders and still feel that Senator Sanders in the best option that we have in the race.”

As Bernie Sanders dives deeper into the Democrat primary than many experts thought possible, he very well may change his tune on reparations. As he heads into the south, it could just be one more “free” thing he promises to give his supporters in order to gain their vote. Don’t bother asking how he’d pay for it, though. No one who cares is likely even considering the Vermont Senator for President, because they’ll be footing the bill.
