Reading about fraud is always upsetting, but reading about charity fraud is downright infuriating.
When the already-impoverished nation of Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake in 2010, people around the world opened their checkbooks to donate money to the reconstruction of the country. Among the recipients of these generous donations was the Red Cross, who pledged to help the people of Haiti get back on their feet with the millions of dollars given to them.
Yet five years after launching LAMIKA, a project named after a Creole acronym for “A Better Life In My Neighborhood” and meant to build hundreds of homes in Port-Au-Prince, only six homes have been built across the entire country, forcing citizens to continue dwelling in shacks without water, electricity or basic sanitation and regular flooding. In short, the Red Cross has delivered far less than it promised not just to it’s donors, but to the people it claimed it would help as well.

Charity scams the head or admistrator or ceo of these charities gets his salary first often these are 50,000 to million dollar a year jobs these charities arent run by volunteers and the money often goes into escrow or other interest earning accounts or investments first and the interest/profit skimmed off before the relatives friends and local 3rd world warlords get their handout and then the dregs leftover fed to the poor

I’ve been trying to tell people for YEARS that The Red Cross was not what they claim to be. They spend a ridiculous amount of donated money to nothing but lining their own pockets!

The Salvation Army is one of the best charitable organizations that we have, using a minimal amount of donations for administrative costs. Serviced mostly by volunteers.
They were that way back during WWII. My dad said every time they would bring food in it was basically for the celebrities and big wigs and by the time they got there there was slim pickings…he never would give to the Red Cross and neither do I
For that much money we could build a fucking city for those people over there ….. I bet the houses are all made outta recycled plastic and only little boxes not full size homes either ….. Scandals is what they are almost all charities are scandals ….. Stop giving away your hard earned money …. Donate time to a local homes for humanity if you feel the need to donate anything …… Even if you have no construction skills there is plenty you can do for them at the job site …..
