American universities, those once great bastions of learning, have increasingly become vehicles for pushing political correctness. Now that's not to say that we don't have some outstanding universities in America where incredible teaching, scholarship, and research continue. The problem is the growing influence of leftist dogma that refuses to tolerate any discussion that doesn't fit the prescribed set of beliefs.
Of course, this is contrary to the whole mission of the university, where viewpoints should be discussed openly, strengths and weaknesses of positions and beliefs examined, and truth pursued. Political correctness cuts such scholarship short, and imposes a rigid dogma that must be accepted if one is to succeed as a student or professor.
