Putin Pokes Fun At Liberals and CBS Reporter

CBS reporter Elizabeth Palmer was in Russia to seek out a possible lead to a rumor that someone may have heard something about in a conversation that probably took place nearby an official speaking on the phone with a minister in the government.  Provided the stars were in alignment and the moon was just right.

Instead, she had to settle for the Russian president.

As Putin was entering the player's box in full hockey gear, he and his interpreter decided to stop for a quick not-so-impromptu interview.  The quickie didn't go down exactly the way she anticipated.

PALMER:  Sir…what…how will the firing of James Comey affect U.S.-Russian relations?

PUTIN (through interpreter):  There will be no effect.  Your question looks very funny for me.  Don't be angry with me.  We have nothing to do with that.  President Trump is acting in accordance with his competence, in accordance with his law and Constitution.  What about us?  Why we?  You see I am going to play hockey with the hockey fans.  And I invite you to do the same.

PALMER:  I'll be here and I'll be watching.  Thank you very much.

As you can plainly see, this was one hard-hitting interview, well worth the $800 plane ticket in coach.  Was it just me or did Putin appear to be poking fun at the media?  His interpreter actually looked a heck of a lot more fun to talk to than, say, Chuck Schumer (not to mention Schumer couldn't sport a cool '70s moustache like that, anyway).

As it turned out, the two back at the studio appeared to be SUPER impressed with Palmer's incredible “get” and made sure to follow up with some hard-hitting questions of their own.  The unnamed anchorman actually asked if the Russian press had any thoughts on the “Russian hack of the elections!”  Yes, he really did.

To her credit, Palmer downplayed every single attempt on the parts of the anchor and anchoress to stir up a hornet's nest.  It seemed that they were in some sort of slight pain (or disinterest) when Palmer was not following through on the Trump dirt.  Regardless, this is one of those interviews I probably already forgot.

Wait…what were we talking about?
