Vladimir Putin is no fan of the “Arab Spring”, evident by his address to the UN. Putin, who is allies with Assad, and Russia who has interests in Syria as a strategic location, has moved his military to the Syrian border. His speech pointed out his take on the Arab spring, and he believes the Obama “doctrine” in the Middle East has left a vacuum that ISIS is filling. Surprisingly, his take on the Arab Spring is much aligned with how many American conservatives view it.

if anyone bothered to take the 22 minutes to watch the entire video, like i did, they would find that it is not so much a criticism of obama as the entire united states’ middle east policy since the start of the iraq war. putin makes the point, and you can agree with it or not, that the iraq war and subsequent actions have destabilized the entire region. while obama has certainly muddled his way through this minefield; his predecessors got the ball rolling and noone, including putin, really knows how to put the genie back in the bottle.
