Putin Assembles Anti-ISIS Coalition Minus Obama

“Lasting stability can only take hold when the people of Syria forge an agreement to live together peacefully,” said Obama. “The United States is prepared to work with any nation, including Russia and Iran, to resolve the conflict.”
President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia doesn’t care what Obama thinks or says, knowing the president is weak. Putin moved ahead with a sharply different tack from that of the Obama. Russia will actively battle the Islamic State by assembling a rival coalition that includes Iran and the Syrian government.

Oddly, Iraq considers itself a bold member of the coalition. With about 3,500 American advisers, trainers and other military personnel in his country, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of Iraq has cast himself as a vital member of the United States-led coalition to combat the Islamic State. This is essentially the Chihuahua furiously barking as it stands behind the security door…and its owner.

“However, the Shiite-dominated Iraqi government, which has long been anxious that ousting Mr. Assad might strengthen the Islamic State, has also quietly enabled the Russian military buildup in Syria,” it adds. “While Bulgaria closed its airspace to Russian transport planes headed to Syria at the request of the United States, Iraq has allowed the Russian flights in its airspace.”
