Proposed Law would make Hawaii First State to enter Gun Owners into Federal Database

The attempt to registrater guns has been a long fought battle, and for good reason. If guns are registered, the government will know who owns the guns and where they are located. They will then be able to march up to homes and confiscate legally owned weapons one by one, as has been done in other countries. Democrats will say this is for the safety of the nation. Simply stated, that is a lie. And citizens need to absolutely reject this scheme and tell the lying Democrats to pound sand.

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii could become the first state in the United States to enter gun owners into an FBI database that will automatically notify police if an island resident is arrested anywhere else in the country.

Most people entered in the “Rap Back” database elsewhere in the U.S. are those in “positions of trust,” such as school teachers and bus drivers, said Stephen Fischer of the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division. Hawaii could be the first state to add gun owners.

Supporters say the law would make Hawaii a leader in safe gun laws. Allison Anderman, a staff attorney at the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, said the bill was “groundbreaking,” and that she hadn’t heard of other states introducing similar measures.

Sen. Will Espero, who introduced the bill, and the Honolulu Police Department said Hawaii could serve as a model for other states if it becomes the first to enact the law.

Yet others say gun owners shouldn’t have to be entered in a database to practice a constitutional right.

The bill will undergo a legal review process by departments including the Attorney General’s Office, which supported the bill, before Gov. David Ige decides if he will sign it into law, said Cindy McMillan, a spokeswoman for the governor.

The cost to enter names in the database will be covered by a fee paid by gun owners, which wasn’t defined in the bill.

Even though other states don’t enter gun owners in the database, Honolulu Police Department Maj. Richard Robinson said it will still benefit Hawaii police. Right now, Hawaii gun owners undergo a background check only when they register [purchase] a gun, so police have no way of knowing if they’re disqualified from owning a gun in the future unless they try to register a new firearm.

That happens about 20 times each year, he said.

Twenty times a year is clearly not a big enough problem to violate the constitutional rights of the entire state of Hawaii. Note there will also be a fee paid by gun owners, and it will be remembered that Hillary Clinton once suggested a tax of $1,000 per weapon in an effort to make gun ownership difficult to impossible.

Hawaii State Senator Josh Green, also a Democrat, has introduced concurrent legislation that would require citizens to purchase liability insurance, which he suggests is similar to buying car insurance.  However, Bill Richter, secretary of the Hawaii Rifle Association cites insurance experts who indicate homeowners and renters insurance would already cover accidents involving someone’s firearms, even if gun incidents happen outside their home. And purposeful criminal activity would not be covered by liability insurance of any kind, Richter said.

Democrats lie in multiple ways in order to take your guns away under false pretenses. Maybe they should be afraid. Maybe they don’t feel safe, even with their well armed security details, knowing that the people are fed up with their lies and their confiscatory policies. Maybe they see dark days ahead and are worried about what an armed populace could do to these lying, deceitful frauds.
