President Trump: “Shut Down the Government” in Order to ‘Fix This Mess’

Donald Trump is known for his habitual, late-night Tweeting.  The man is a machine when it comes to working.  He apparently never sleeps.

Recently, the Congress took up the new budgetary vote and opted (once again) to ignore the constituents, the very people who gave them the White House.  You remember, don’t you?  The same Congressional Republicans that whined they needed the Senate, after maintaining the House of Representatives.  Then, they were handed the Senate, only to moan about how the president was “so mean” and wouldn’t let them vote the constituents’ conscience.

Well, what’s their excuse now that they’ve been handed the Oval Office?  Crickets, of course.  One of the most enduring and apparently effective methods of elected officials is, if you’re being asked a direct question that you really don’t want to answer, or if you’re being asked to do something you really don’t want to do, you simply invoke your voter-given right to ignorance.

That’s right…just ignore your constituents!  It’s really that simple.  Because what has been proven to be a tried-and-true method seems to be duly rewarded (in normal election years) with yet another term.  While voters also like to moan about government situations, they inevitably are too focused on other more important things – like which Egyptian queen looks the most like Michelle Obama, or who is currently dating whom in Hollywood.

The Conservative movement of late has been a different animal, however.  And President Trump tapped into that movement and currently represents the best chance at combating these milquetoast Republican Establishment RINOs.

His newest Tweet was classic Trump:

“The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We…” he continued, “either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good “shutdown” in September to fix mess!”

The president was reacting to the less-than-enthusiastic reaction from Republicans over the bipartisan spending bill congressional leaders reached this week.

The deal includes funding for Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities, which many Republicans are not pleased with. It does, however, include increased funding for border security, something Republicans requested.
The Washington Times couldn’t be more right.  The Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities issues are two of the taxpayers’ most important focuses and that is something the Congressional Republicans should be taking into account when they think about their next campaign for office.
If history is any indicator, voters may not be so blind and kind this time around.
