President Trump: Obama Ordered Wiretaps of My Phones at Trump Tower

No one expected the left to be happy about the results of the November elections. Hillary Clinton was humiliated. Barack Obama got his pathetic legacy flattened. And Pelosi and Schumer remain minority leaders. But did we really expect the level and ferocity of attacks on President Trump and his administration that we’ve witnessed? Perhaps we should have.

Now we have President Trump alleging that Mr. Obama ordered the tapping of his phones in the Trump Tower during the campaign. Here are his tweets:

While Fortune points out that President Trump provided no evidence for this, these are rather serious charges for the President to make if he had no proof. More than likely, this is battle where each side are keeping some of their cards very close to their chests.

Here’s Mr. Obama’s denial:

Obama responded Saturday afternoon with a statement from his spokesperson, Kevin Lewis:

“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice. As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”

That’s very carefully worded. Rules, even “cardinal rules” have been known to be broken. And although neither the president nor any White House official may have ordered any wiretaps, they certainly could have facilitated them. This is “lawyer talk,” not a confession of faith.

Note the response from former Obama Spokesman Ben Rhodes:

A former policy adviser to President Obama is firing back at President Trump’s claim that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower, saying it didn’t happen — at least not under Obama’s orders. [Emphasis added.]

That’s a bit more equivocating that the official response from spokesman Kevin Lewis. These people need to get on the same page if they are going to attack the president.

Rhodes continues his response to President Trump:

“No President can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens from people like you,” Ben Rhodes tweeted Saturday morning. [Emphasis added.]

Does Mr. Rhodes or Mr. Lewis really expecting us to believe that no president has ever ordered a wiretap, or maybe winked when some political operative did so for him?

What we do know is that Mr. Obama has set up operations at his home in DC along with loyalists such as Valerie Jarrett with the purpose of forcing the impeachment of President Trump or his resignation from office. Mr. Obama’s ability to stir up a bunch of rabble-rousers to commit criminal offenses is real. However, he is taking on someone very different in the form of President Trump that what he has likely been accustomed to in the past.

In his effort to trap the President, Mr. Obama might fall into one himself. By not presenting evidence, Trump could very well be letting Obama or his minions make more mistakes to condemn or expose themselves in their response because they are not privy to the evidence Trump has.

Levin claims the evidence is ‘overwhelming’ and lays out several pieces of information that certainly indicates Obama’s intent to spy on Trump. However, the extent to which that is done would be a matter for investigation:

Let us hope so, and let us hope it marks the end of these vicious attacks on tour President.
